Closing Ceremony of St. Joseph Year at Mississauga Eparchy

Mississauga : The Closing Ceremony of St. Joseph Year at the Eparchy of Mississauga was held on December 11th, 2021. It marked the conclusion of the year's round events and competitions.

 The ceremony was blessed with the presence of Archbishop Ivan Jurkovic, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada as chief guest. Archbishop Ivan Jurkovic, in his keynote address, expressed his solidarity with the immigrants pointing out how the Holy Family were immigrants as well in their time, and no one would know the plight of an immigrant better than St. Joseph, who had the most significant task of taking care of Mother Mary and protecting Baby Jesus. 

Mar Jose Kalluvelil presided over the meeting. In the presidential address, Bishop Jose Kalluvelil asked everyone to continue the spirit of St. Joseph Year moving forward as well. Rev. Fr. Pathrose Champakara, Protosyncellus extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries. Eparchy of Mississauga especially honoured twenty-two families with five or more children. 

Distinguished invitees and winners of various competitions were honoured during the ceremony. All the eparchial winners in various categories of Talent Fest and competitions were acknowledged and awarded with certificates and cash awards. 

Pious Associations for Children (PAC), Syro Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM) and Family Apostolate showcased the performances of the Eparchial winners in the Talent Fest and sent out great messages associated with the Year of St. Joseph. Fr. Augustine Kallumkatharayil, Convener of Year of St. Joseph celebrations owed special thanks to the Central Committee, who organized various activities for the parish, forane and epharchy levels. 

 Rianna Mathew sang the Papal Anthem. Sharon Vince, Deepa Sabu and Charles Antony addressed the ceremony. The Ceremony adjourned with the blessing prayer by Archbishop Ivan Jurkovic.
