New General & Definitory for the Order of Discalced Carmelites

Rome : The 92nd General Chapter of the Order of Discalced Carmelite (OCD) commenced on  August 30, 2021 and Concluded on  September 14, 2021, at the Casa “La Salle” in Via Aurelia, Rome. The assembly was marked by the presence of a thumbing majority of first time participants ever in the history of General Chapters. The participants were from more than 40 countries and the total number amounted to 95. 

On 4th September, the chapter assembly elected Fr. Miguel Marquez Calle (Miguel de Maria) as the new General of the Order for the next sexennium 2021-2027. 

By 8th of September 2021, the new members of general Definitory were  elected and declared. The three definitors were called from outside the general chapter members. The new general Definitory members are Fr.  Augustine  Borrel (Spain), Fr. Pius James D'Souza (India), Fr. Philbert Namphande (Malawi), Fr. Roberto Maria Pirastu (Austria), Fr. Christianus Surinono (Indonesia), Fr. Martin Martinez Larios (Mexico), Fr. Christophe - Marie Baudouin (France), Fr. Jean - Baptiste Pagabeleguem (Burkina Faso).
