Raksha Bandhan is the celebration of brotherhood. During this feast Hindu women tie a bracelet like string around their brothers’ hand and pray for them. Through this, the bond between brothers and sisters are reenforced, and the brother becomes responsible for taking care and protecting the sister. The women do not tie this around their fathers’ or husbands’ hands. In the contemporary context a lot of atrocities against women is increasing, this celebration has a special significance. .
