Free Medical Camps in the Remote Villages of Adilabad

Adilabad: Eparchy of Adilabad conducted free medical camps for the poor village people. The camps were held in the vicinity of the villages from morning till evening. These were the KARUNYA NIDHI initiative of the eparchy. Medical camps were conducted in Petharpu village of Kadam Mandal in a government primary school, Mettupally village of Kannapally Mandal in a government premise and in Thekkumatla Village of Jaipur Mandal.

Many people in rural areas do not have access to medical facilities. Due to the restrictions on transport and non-availability of doctors and medicines, many rural people with co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension etc., are finding it difficult to get regular checkups. Some, like daily wagers, do not even have the money to get treatment. Physically challenged persons, pregnant women and elderly persons were the biggest beneficiaries of the camps.

The team consists of Sr. Dr. Lijo CMC, and many sisters from different congregations volunteered to help out to conduct the camp. In the gracious presence of Bishop Mar Prince Antony and many other priests were indeed a blessing for the team.

The response of the camp was huge and many people said that they felt cared. Apart from medical check-up, awareness classes were given on Covid-19, and spoke to the people about the importance of the health and hygiene. The team appreciated Fr. Sijo Ponthokkan, CMC sisters and the parishioners of Mettupally Parish, Fr. Joshy Ambattu, FSSE sisters and the parishioners of Kadam and Capuchin friars of Thekkumatla village for their generous assistance to conduct camps in their respective parish localities.
