COVID Relief Services Rendered by MPVSS

Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh Viklang Sahayata Samiti (MPVSS) is one of the units of the Eparchy of Ujjain and it is a non-profit organization which render services in education, development and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities. The poor and the disabled were the most disadvantaged and suffered by the lockdown in the covid-19 second wave.

In May and June, MPVSS carried out COVID relief services. The eparchy supported 550 families with dry ration kits and other necessary items for a month.  Beneficiaries of the ration kits were physically disabled, economically poor, persons affected with leprosy and people living with HIV/ AIDS. 

MPVSS staff and priests distributed the dry ration kits in all wards of Ujjain urban, and various villages in the Ujjain district. This time the situation was more challenging. Due to higher death rates and unpredictable conditions, only limited numbers of volunteers were available. Besides dry ration kits, MPVSS has also distributed 5000 N-95 masks, 2500- cotton cloth masks, and 525 bottles of hand Sanitizer. The eparchy have also provided essential medicines to the children with disabilities. During the unprecedented first wave of COVID -19, in 2020, MPVSS has effectively reached out to around two thousand people with essential help.

MPVSS has completed 23 years of service for children and young adults, especially those who are cognitively and physically differently-abled. At present the eparchy of ujjain mainly working in the districts of Ujjain , Rajgarh, Shajapur and Agar – Malwa, and also provides services in the other districts of M.P, as per the needs of the community. 

MPVSS is rendering services through  Special Schools, Integrated centres, Community Centres, Vocational Training Centre, Hostels and Respite care home and community based rehabilitation programmes.
